The Power of Not Waiting

In a world that often pushes us to pause, to wait for the “right moment,” I’ve realized the importance of eliminating waiting from my vocabulary. Too frequently, I find myself in a state of limbo—waiting for Monday to kick off a new week, waiting for an appointment to roll around, or even waiting for a show to end before I take on something productive. This habit of waiting has become a barrier, keeping me from fully engaging with the present.

What if, instead of waiting, I chose to be intentional about how I spend my time? For instance, when I sit down to watch a show, I can reframe my mindset: I'm not just waiting for it to end to tackle my chores; I’m intentionally enjoying this show until it concludes. And when I do clean the kitchen afterward, I can savor the satisfaction of accomplishing a task rather than viewing it as something to squeeze in once I’m done waiting.

Similarly, waiting rooms can feel like a drag, but they don’t have to be wasted moments. Rather than scrolling aimlessly on my phone or tapping my foot impatiently, I have the power to transform that time into something meaningful. While I await my appointment, I can relax, catch up on emails, meditate, or dive into a good book. Each moment becomes an opportunity to choose how I want to spend my time, rather than just marking time until the next event occurs.

I refuse to let the notion of waiting dictate my actions. I won’t wait to start pursuing my goals; instead, I will either take action now or consciously decide to hold off with purpose. By adopting this mindset, I can create a life filled with intention and engagement—a life where I actively participate in each moment rather than passively waiting for it to pass.

The power of not waiting lies in reclaiming your time and choices. It’s about recognizing that every moment counts and that we have the capacity to fill our lives with purpose, even in the seemingly mundane. Let’s choose to live intentionally, embrace the now, and make the most out of every experience, big or small.
