McCOOK Neb. - The McCook Art Guild is currently honoring the late artist JoAnn Buettner in their vault for January. Buettner, who was a lifelong artist, passed away on August 28, 2023, leaving behind a small collection of artwork.
As a tribute to their mother, her children chose to share a selection of her work at the McCook Art Guild. Visitors can explore her artistic journey through various mediums.
The exhibition features two stunning scenic paintings created with acrylics, showcasing Buettner's love for nature. Her photography captures the beauty of flowers, while her pastel drawings depict portraits of her family members, including herself.
To celebrate JoAnn Buettner's artistic legacy, an artist reception will be held on Saturday, January 13, from 1 to 4 p.m. This event provides an opportunity for art enthusiasts and community members to appreciate Buettner's work and engage in conversations.
The McCook Art Guild takes pride in regularly featuring talented artists in their vault, allowing the community to experience different styles and mediums of art. The exhibition is open to the public during gallery hours from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., Tuesday through Saturday.
“This is a small sampling of the work my mom did throughout her life and not the best of what once was. She rarely shared her work but she was an amazing artist, photographer, crafter, and writer who will be remembered for her quick wit, eccentric style, and cantankerous spirit.” - Anna LaBay, McCook Gazette Reporter
