New Director Sarah Schneider to Lead McCook Chamber into a Promising Future

McCOOK, Neb. - The McCook Chamber has welcomed Sarah Schneider as its new Director, effective January 10, 2024. “We are so very excited to welcome Sarah as our Director” read a statement from the McCook Chamber’s Executive Board. The Executive Board consists of Joe Townsley, Jade Lesko, and Kerri Waugh.

Having been a resident of McCook for over two decades, Schneider’s commitment to the community is evident not only through her new leadership role but also through her active participation in various chamber and community events. Alongside her husband, Nate Schneider, who serves as the McCook City Manager, Schneider has embraced the spirit of McCook. Reflecting on her decision to move here, she shared, "I had family here, and then I met my husband Nate, who grew up and graduated high school here. I saw his love for the community, and so this is our home, our forever home."

Before assuming the position of Director, Schnieder served as a family support worker with Ambience Counseling, a role that holds great significance for her and one she intends to continue. Through her work with Ambience Counseling and her personal experiences as a parent, Schneider firmly believes in the importance of involving children in volunteering. She sees it as a means of fostering connections, providing opportunities, and shaping the future of the community. Since Schneider will be working as the Chamber Director in a part-time capacity, the executive board shared that they will hire an additional employee in the coming months.

Schneider has been volunteering with the McCook Chamber since 2021 when she worked alongside then-director Brandi McConnell on a vision for a Christmas event. Together the two created Noel on Norris, an event that continues to bring holiday cheer and entertainment to the area.

Since taking on her new role, Schneider has hit the ground running. She has already coordinated the recent visit of Governor Pillen and has actively participated in committee meetings for upcoming events such as Bash on the Hills, Crazy Days, and Heritage Days.

Schneider shared her gratitude for the support she has received from the Chamber Board of Directors, as well as Charlie McPherson from the McCook Economic Development Corporation, Molly Smith, Marketing Director at Community Hospital who previously served in Schneider’s role, Ronda Graff from the McCook Community Foundation Fund and her new coworker Kyle Kinne. Their assistance has been invaluable to her in her new role as Chamber Director.

When discussing her vision for the Chamber and McCook, Schneider expressed her desire to encourage others to actively engage in the community. Recognizing the value of cultivating relationships and expanding volunteer networks, she aims to ensure that the community thrives by welcoming fresh faces and encouraging everyone, particularly young people, to contribute their time and talents.

With her unwavering dedication to McCook, coupled with her experience and commitment, Schnieder is a formidable force in leading the Chamber forward into a promising future.  You can reach Sarah Schneider at the Chamber office at 308-345-3200.
