McCOOK Neb. - McCook Farm and Ranch Expo has 350 vendors from 20 states, Canada, and Australia. Livewire Fence Supply from Culbertson Neb. is one of them.
Livewire Fence Supply owner Jake Miller says, “The expo is a great opportunity for us because our shop is located six miles north of Culbertson just off the ranch where we're fixing all of our equipment and everything in the same shop we sell out of.” He added “It’s an undertaking for us to bring this much stuff here. But it gives us a chance to put our products in front of a lot of people. We may only see them once a year, but they're in the habit of coming here to get the stuff that they need from us.”
Miller explains that he started the business by accident after he came home from college in 2013 and was farming and ranching with his dad. “I just was not happy with the available products we could get at the time, or availability here locally. So, I started experimenting with just charging our batteries to run a fence charger, and just kind of came up with my own design that worked for us.” Neighbors noticed, and then he shared a post on Facebook about it, and business snowballed from there.
In 2020, Cassie Miller left her job and began working with her husband. She has brought on many different products including horse supplies, apparel, and accessories. They currently have customers in 45 states and Canada. The business and their family have continued to grow since they first joined the McCook Farm and Ranch Expo. With the development of new products, they will continue to grow.
Livewire Fence Supply, and estimated 350 other vendors, will be at the Red Willow County fairgrounds during the McCook Farm and Ranch Expo. It is open at 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. on today and 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday.
