McCOOK, NE - The holiday season is in full swing, and residents of McCook are getting ready to spread some festive cheer with the highly anticipated Light Up McCook event. In an exciting update, organizers have extended the deadline to participate in the holiday decorating contest, giving homeowners more time to ready their homes for the festivities.
The McCook Chamber and the McCook Community Foundation sponsored ‘Light Up McCook’ a Christmas Lights competition for McCook Businesses in 2021.
Last year Kerri Waugh from Charter West Bank took on the project, expanding the competition to include homes this year.
With a wedding anniversary at the beginning of December, Waugh and her husband have made it a tradition to drive around town to admire the beautiful Christmas lights. “II’s a beautiful way to celebrate the season,” said Waugh.
To take part in the ‘Light Up McCook’ decorating Contest homeowners are encouraged to register their home address by visiting the Charter West Bank website no later than December 3rd.
On December 5th, starting at 6 pm, a photo of each registered home will be taken, eliminating the need for homeowners to be present during the process. These photos will then be posted on Charter West Bank's Facebook page for community members to vote on their favorites.
With over $500 in prizes up for grabs, the competition is sure to bring out the creativity and holiday spirit in the participants. Winners will be announced on December 8th, allowing ample time for the community to admire and appreciate the hard work and dedication put into these dazzling holiday displays.
The Light Up McCook event promises to be a highlight of the holiday season, showcasing the community's festive spirit and collective effort to brighten the streets of McCook. Now is the perfect time to transform your home into a winter wonderland. Get creative, get festive, and let your holiday decorations shine in the Light Up McCook contest. Let's illuminate McCook with joy and holiday cheer!
